Madeleine McCann’s parents have broken their silence after a DNA test on a Polish woman claiming to be their missing daughter came back negative.
Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, declined to confirm the negative DNA test results from Julia Faustyna, who had been claiming on social media that she might have been the toddler who disappeared on a family vacation over a decade ago.
“There isn’t anything to report at this time. If and when there is, it will come from The Metropolitan Police,” the family’s spokesperson said.
The test results were revealed late Monday by Fia Johansson, a private investigator working with Faustyna.
“She is absolutely 100 percent from Poland,” Johansson said.
“She is a small percentage of Lithuanian and Russian but the test results show she is Polish.”
A DNA test has proven that Julia Wendell is not Madeleine McCann despite her claims.
Madeleine McCann vanished from a Portuguese apartment in 2007. APFaustyna, 21, had been claiming on Instagram and TikTok that she might be McCann because of their shared age and appearance.
She went to great lengths in an attempt to verify her identity, including submitting samples for three different forensic examinations to outline her DNA sequence and a 23andMe-style genetic test to establish her ancestry — but it wasn’t a match.
The Polish girl doubled down during a recent appearance on “Dr. Phil,” denying her parents’ claims that she stole her own birth certificate and childhood photos to hide her true identity.
A spokesman for Madeleine McCann’s parents issued a statement and said that anything to report would come from the police. EPAIn a written statement aired during the show, Faustyna’s parents — who have maintained that they are her biological kin — said it was “obvious that Julia isn’t Maddie.”
“For us as a family it is obvious Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step niece. We have memories, we have pictures,” they said. “Julia also has these photos because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.”
Faustyna denied her family’s narrative and accused her mother of always changing the subject whenever Faustyna questioned her ancestry or birth.
She told Dr. Phil that she’s never seen a photo of her mother pregnant and has scarce childhood memories.
Faustyna, who is also listed in some reports as Julia Wendell or Julia Wandelt, previously said if the ancestry and DNA results proved she isn’t Madeleine, she still wouldn’t want contact with her Polish family.
“If she is my mother, I don’t want to have contact with her, that’s all, but I believe she isn’t my mother,” she said.
Madeleine McCann was 3 years old when she disappeared from her bed during a family vacation in Portugal in May 2007.
Julia is also facing a nervous wait for the results of further health tests as doctors fear she may have leukemia, Johansson — with Julia’s permission — revealed to the Sun.
She said, “Her health is very poor, she has bad asthma and she suffers lots of pain in her bones.
“She is booked in for a CT and MRI scan because of the pain in her bones.
“Her blood work is also abnormal, so my doctor here in the US is investigating whether she could have leukemia, so we are awaiting the results of that.
“And if she needs any treatment, we will make sure she gets that.”
